"General Grant's Cottage"
The general used to enjoy going to a site closeby the cottage which offers a stunning view of the valley below. The following two photos show signs placed there giving information on both the general, and the views to be seen across the valley. From this overlook on a clear day, one can see the Adirondack Mountains in N.Y.S., the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Catskill Mountains in N.Y.S.
Off in the distance and to the left would be the Adirondack Mountains. This particular day was quite hazy hiding them from view.
Stone monument memorializing General Grant's last visit to the overlook. It says:
"This stone marks the spot where General U.S. Grant had his last view of the valley
July 20, 1885"
